The instructions recommend not using the lid while heating the contents of your canteen cup, but we were able to bring our water to a rolling boil without damage or change in performance to the Heavy Cover Lid.
When drinking water is of questionable quality, use Potable Aqua tablets. Bottle of 50 tablets will treat 25 quarts. Proven effective against Giardia lamblia. This is one of the most basic survival kit items, and is ideal for camping, hiking, and traveling. Water to be used for drinking, cooking, making any prepared drink, or brushing the teeth should be properly disinfected.
